Every young author has a story to tell. SB Knowledge Press encourages children and young writers to explore their creativity through stories, poems, comics, illustrations, educational books, and other original works.
Because our young authors are children, all submissions and publishing activities must be undertaken with the active participation and consent of a parent or legal guardian.
1. Who Can Submit?
The Young Authors programme is intended for children and young writers who wish to develop their original creative or educational work into a book.
Young authors may submit:
Parent or legal guardian participation is required throughout the submission and publishing process.
2. What Can Young Authors Publish?
Stories & Fiction: Short stories, adventures, fantasy, mysteries, imaginative tales, and age-appropriate fiction.
Poetry & Rhymes: Original poems, rhymes, verses, and collections of poetry.
Comics & Illustrated Books: Stories combining writing, illustrations, characters, panels, and visual storytelling.
Educational Books: Age-appropriate educational content, learning resources, activity books, and knowledge-based works.
Creative & Experimental Works: Original creative projects that combine writing, illustrations, ideas, and different forms of storytelling.
3. Start With Your Idea: Every book begins with an idea.
Young authors can start by asking:
What story do I want to tell?
Who are my characters?
What happens in my story?
What message or idea do I want to share?
Who will enjoy reading my book?
What makes my book different?
Don't worry about making it perfect at the beginning. Start writing, then improve your work step by step.
4. Preparing Your Manuscript
Before submission, young authors should prepare their work carefully.
Your manuscript should:
Have a clear title.
Be written in a readable format.
Have the author's name as provided by the parent/guardian.
Be organized into chapters, sections, poems, stories, or pages as appropriate.
Include illustrations or artwork where relevant.
Be checked for spelling and grammar.
Be the author's own original work.
Be suitable for its intended age group and audience.
Parents or guardians may assist the young author with formatting, proofreading, organization, and submission, while preserving the child's own creative contribution.
5. Originality & Copyright
Young authors should submit original work created by them.
Do not copy:
Stories from books
Poems from websites
Characters created by other authors
Images or illustrations without permission
Copyrighted text
AI-generated material presented as entirely the child's original creation
If a young author has used material created by someone else with permission, the relevant permission and attribution should be provided where required.
Important: Submitting a manuscript confirms that the parent or legal guardian has the authority to submit the work and that the information provided to SB Knowledge Press is accurate.
6. Use of AI & Digital Tools
Young authors may encounter AI and digital tools while creating stories, illustrations, or learning materials.
Where AI tools have been used in creating or substantially developing a manuscript, illustration, image, or other significant content, the use of such tools should be disclosed by the parent or legal guardian during submission.
AI tools should not be used to misrepresent another person's work as the child's own.
The child's genuine ideas, creativity, participation, and authorship should remain central to the work.
7. Parent & Legal Guardian Participation
For every young-author submission, a parent or legal guardian must participate in the process.
The parent or guardian may be involved in:
Reviewing the manuscript before submission
Completing the submission form
Providing contact information
Confirming the child's participation
Providing required consent
Reviewing publishing-related information
Communicating with SB Knowledge Press
Approving publication-related decisions
Assisting with payments or orders, where applicable
The young author remains at the heart of the creative process. The role of the parent or guardian is to provide appropriate support, supervision, consent, and communication.
8. Editorial Assessment
Every submission is subject to editorial assessment.
The assessment may consider:
Originality
Content quality
Age appropriateness
Readability
Structure and presentation
Educational or creative value
Copyright and originality concerns
Suitability for publication
Technical and production requirements
Submission does not automatically guarantee publication. Where revisions are required, the author and parent/guardian may be asked to make appropriate changes before the work proceeds further.
9. Editing & Book Development
After a manuscript is accepted for further development, the work may go through stages such as:
Manuscript Preparation → Editing → Proofreading → Design → Typesetting → Cover Development → Production → Publication
Editing and production requirements may vary depending on the type and format of the book.
Young authors and their parents/guardians should review the relevant material and provide approvals where requested.
10. Illustrations & Images
Young authors may include their own drawings, illustrations, photographs, or other visual materials where appropriate.
All submitted images should:
Be original or appropriately licensed.
Be suitable for children and the intended audience.
Not violate another person's copyright.
Not contain inappropriate or harmful material.
Not disclose unnecessary personal information.
Parents or guardians should ensure that any third-party images or materials used in a manuscript have the appropriate permission or licence.
11. Privacy & Personal Information
The safety and privacy of young authors are important. Parents and guardians should not provide unnecessary personal information about a child in the manuscript or accompanying materials.
Avoid including information such as:
Home address
Personal phone number
Private email address
Personal social-media accounts
Daily routines
Sensitive family information
Other information that could unnecessarily identify or locate the child
Where a young author's name is displayed publicly, the publishing arrangement and parental/guardian consent should be considered appropriately.
12. Content Safety
Young-author publications should be age-appropriate, respectful, and safe for their intended audience.
SB Knowledge Press may decline or request changes to content that contains, for example:
Explicit sexual content
Graphic violence
Hate or discriminatory content
Dangerous instructions inappropriate for children
Bullying or harassment presented in an unsafe manner
Content that exposes private information
Material that may place a child or another person at risk
Creative storytelling may address difficult subjects where appropriate, but content should be assessed according to its intended audience and publishing context.
13. Author Name & Book Credits
The young author's name and other publication credits should be provided by the parent or legal guardian.
Depending on the publishing arrangement, a book may include information such as:
Author: Young Author's Name
Illustrations: Young Author's Name / Contributor
Editor: [Name, where applicable]
Parents/guardians should ensure that names and credits are supplied accurately before publication.
14. Publishing Formats
Young-author books may be considered for formats such as:
The available format may depend on the nature, design, production requirements, and publishing arrangement of the individual book.
15. Book Availability & Distribution
Where applicable, published books may be made available through:
Availability can vary by title, format, territory, platform, and distribution arrangement. International availability or distribution should not be assumed unless specifically confirmed for the individual publication.
16. Costs, Pricing & Purchases
Any applicable publishing charges, book prices, production costs, or other fees will be communicated through the relevant publishing arrangement.
For purchases made through SB Knowledge Press: Paperback delivery is currently available within India only.
Applicable purchase, delivery, cancellation, refund, and digital-product terms will be provided before payment.
17. Publication & Promotion
After publication, SB Knowledge Press may display appropriate information about a published young-author book through its website or other official publishing channels, subject to the applicable publishing arrangement and parental/guardian consent.
Publicly displayed information should be limited to what is appropriate and necessary.
We encourage young authors to celebrate their achievement while respecting their privacy and safety.
18. Young Author Publishing Journey
Imagine: Start with an idea.

Prepare: Organize your manuscript and artwork.
Submit: A parent or legal guardian submits the work.
Assess: SB Knowledge Press conducts an editorial assessment.
Develop: Make appropriate revisions and prepare the book for production.

Publish: Your completed work becomes a published book.

20. For Parents & Legal Guardians: Your Support Makes the Journey Possible
Publishing a child's work can be a valuable creative and learning experience. Parents and legal guardians are encouraged to support the young author while allowing the child's own ideas, imagination, voice, and creativity to remain central to the work.
Before submitting, parents/guardians should review the manuscript, understand the publishing process, confirm the child's participation, and provide the required consent.
